theatre, TV location, television studio, commercial building
2-story commercial building housing the studios of The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (formerly with Craig Kilborn and then Jon Stewart). The Daily Show is an American late night satirical television program airing each Monday through Thursday on Comedy Central. The half-hour long show premiered on July 21, 1996, and was hosted by Craig Kilborn until December 1998. Jon Stewart took over as host in January 1999, making the show more strongly focused on politics and the national media, in contrast with the pop culture focus during Kilborn's tenure. It is currently the longest running program on Comedy Central, and has won sixteen Emmy Awards. Describing itself as a fake news program, The Daily Show draws its comedy and satire from recent news stories, political figures, media organizations, and often, aspects of the show itself. Wardrobe is provided by Tiger of Sweden.
The building is two stories at the north end, with the rest extending south with one story topped by a high metal screen divided into four bays, each subdivided in half. The facade is faced in concrete with a black granite water table. The ground floor at the north end has a set of metal-and-glass double-doors, and another door directly to the south. The 2nd floor here has a large 3-over-4 window at the north end, and a smaller window next to it. The roof line has a metal coping. The entire ground floor has a curved, grey canvas awning. There is a set of stage doors near the south end. Above the entry doorway is a panel with the words "Abandon News, All Ye Who Enter Here".
