The Craig was a Gearing Class Destroyer in service with the US Navy from 1945 to 1972 and saw action in both Korea and Vietnam and was eventually used for training cruises.
Following her decommissioning she was stored in reserve at Hunters Point until July 27, 1979 when she was sunk at this location in fleet training excercises.
