LIRR Valley Stream Station (Valley Stream, New York)

USA / New York / Valley Stream / Valley Stream, New York
railway, LIRR - Long Island Rail Road, train station

Valley Stream Station of Atlantic Branch of Long Island Rail Road. Junction station with LIRR Far Rockaway Branch and West Hempstead Branch. It connects to the MTA Long Island Bus: N1, N2, N3.

This was an original station of the South Side RR and opened in June, 1869. The original building was torn down in 1933 as part of the grade elimination. Its replacement was apparently designed by Edgar I. Williams. Valley Tower controls the movement of trains either i) off to the Far Rockaway tracks to the right; ii) the West Hempstead branch whose one track branches off to the left just out of sight of the second picture; iii) the two Babylon tracks or iv) the Long Beach branch.

The station was completely rebuilt in 2019.
