When the Long Island Railroad was initially started it had one track running the length of Long Island. After the northern and southern tracks (the ones with Hicksville and Bellmore) stations were run through Nassau county, the central rail through East Meadow and Levittown was no longer needed. It was mostly torn up after World War I, although it was re-layed to Newbridge Road when Levittown was being built. The right-of-way for this track is still visible in an aerial view of central Nassau through East Meadow and Levittown.
Old timetables even indicate a stop called "East Meadow Brook".
