An unincorporated census-designated place recognized by the census in 1980. Includes the Chanticleer subdivision and some of the Pleasant Valley neighborhood. Based around the area that was once Gantt township. Named for Judge Richard Gantt, an eminent South Carolinian jurist from the early 19th century. Population was 13,962 at the 2000 census. Per capita income was $20,106 with a median family income of $39,280 and 13.9% of residents under the poverty line.
