Stratesh Park is a city park in Lovech. The park is named after the hill on which it is located. Stratesh Hill is shown on a map made by Felix Kanitz with the name "Great Mountain". In Russian maps and descriptions from the time of the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878) it was named "Red Height". From here began the actions of the detachment of Major General Alexander Imeretinski for the liberation of the city. According to Professor Anastas Ishirkov, the name "Stratesh" comes from the personal name Strati, which is often repeated in the city.
In 1902 the formation of the park began. First, in memory of the Liberation of Lovech from the Ottoman yoke, the White Monument and the Black Monument were erected. In 1956 a project for complete construction was prepared. The authors are architect Boris Ivanchev, architect Petko Evrev and engineer Kosta Enchev. The park covers an area of 1000 decares in the northeastern part of the city. The financing is with funds from the citizens and the municipality. The monumental spaces, a tourist complex, a summer theater, a lake with an area of 2 decares, a weekly kindergarten, rest stations, a rosary, a rock garden, etc. have been built. The typical trees and lilac bushes are planted. In 1977 the Alley of Bulgarian-Russian Friendship was formed. In the eastern part of the park is the Lovech Zoo, characterized by great animal diversity.
A convenient road leads to the park. From here passes the old road Lovech - Sevlievo. There is a direct road connection under the rock crown with the old quarter "Varosha", leading directly to the Monument of Vasil Levski and the Lovech Medieval Fortress.
From the park there is a beautiful panoramic view. Even today it is a favorite place for walks and recreation of Lovech citizens and guests of the city.
