The Great Sitkin site is located on the southwest side of Great Sitkin Island, on Sand Bay, approximately 25 miles east-northeast of Adak, Alaska, in the Aleutian Islands. The site, also known as Sand Bay Navy Station, became operational on on May 15, 1943 and consisted of 700 acres, which was used as a naval advance fueling station. Numerous fuel tanks with associated underground petroleum, oil, and lubricant soil contamination, piers, Quonset huts, storage warehouses, and ordnance magazines are on the island.

No one currently resides on the island. This site is owned by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
