The Niagara Falls International Airport is a joint military/civilian airport and handles scheduled passenger, international charter, cargo, general aviation and military aircraft operations.

Following the construction of a new passenger terminal in 2009, the airport began full-scale passenger operations with five airlines utilizing the airport with scheduled service in addition to charter flight service. Equipped with the fourth longest runway in New York State at 9,825ft, the airport can accommodate all sizes of commercial aircraft.

The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA), which owns the civilian side of the airport, has plans to aggressively market the airport's proximity to both Niagara Falls and Canada's Golden Horseshoe to low cost carriers and charter tourist flights which presently utilize either Toronto Pearson Intl or Greater Buffalo Intl airport.
