Built atop a 50ft thick slab of solid and impermeable lime slag dumped at this location during the early 1900's by local industry, the Allied Waste Landfill is a series of 6 separate landfills that accepts 660,000 tons of municipal solid waste per year by rail and truck.
This facility is only permitted to receive non-putrescible (non-food related) wastes to avoid attracting birds in close proximity to the local Air Force base and Airport and is slated to be filled in 2026. Once filled, the site will be greenscaped.
