The Black Rapids Roadhouse was established around 1902 to serve travelers on the new Valdez-Fairbanks Trail. Listed on the National Registrar of Historic Places, the original roadhouse was restored in 2003. It is the last existing gold-rush roadhouse on the Valdez Trail.
