Booker T. Washington High School is a 9-12 secondary school in the Houston Independent School District. The school is named in honor of education pioneer and orator Booker Taliaferro Washington and was the first secondary school built in Houston for African-Americans (though it was moved here in 1959). In fall 2018, a new building opened (built on acquired properties) and the original school began demolition for additional parking and (future) baseball fields.
