Asylum Church

Romania / Sibiu / Azilului Street, 4
church, place with historical importance, Gothic (architecture), Medieval / Middle Ages, asylum (antiquity), interesting place, historical building, 14th century construction, 13th century construction

A church built in the 13th century(1292?) next to it a asylum for patients was built (which is still functional)
It is a hall-like church built entirely in bricks; the first hospital in Sibiu, attested since 1292 also functioned in this location. The Asylum Church nave has the appearance of a medieval hospital hall which communicated with the nave at the level of the ground floor and the spaces situated on the first floor.
The choir is connected to the nave, continuing it and it is visible from everywhere, the space being sufficient for conducting the religious service.
