The romanesque Basilica, preserved till today without major transformations dates back to second half of the XII century, finished around 1223 and is located in Cisnadioara (Michelsberg) at about 15 km from Sibiu (Hermannstadt). The church is surrounded by an oval shaped fortification built in the XIIIth century and it is one of the few romanesque buildings of Transylvania which did not suffer any gothic "modernisation" durring the XIII and XIV century.
