Barracks ''90'' Parking

Romania / Sibiu / Unirii Square
 car park, 18th century construction

Barracks built by the Habsburg administration between 1792-1807 partly on the foundations of the Cisnadiei Gate bastion (Heltauertor bastei)
The masive building was demolished in 1986 as part of the plan to transform the area around Piata Unirii (Union Square) into a grand civic center, a new center of the city. The plans were never finished, though some buildings were materialised during the 1970s (Unions Culture House, Continental Hotel-presend day Ibis, Dumbrava Department Store, House of Fashion building), mostly because of the Romanian Revolution in December 1989 against the communist regime.
The land was never rebuilt and is being used as a large parking lot.
