Sagara is a town located in the district of Shimoga of the Indian state of Karnataka. Located within the Western Ghats range, it is known for its proximity to Jog Falls and to the historical places of Ikkeri and Keladi. Varadamoola, the origin of the river Varada, is also near Sagara

Famous Jog Falls is near to this place. This place is famous for Arecanut. It was recently upgraded to a City Municipality from town Municipality. Sagar is a beautiful town with beautiful surroundings and also it is very famous for sandalwood Carving.

  • Sagar is a beautiful place full of greenery and is famous for Sandal Wood Carving; It is on the banks of Varada River. In Sagar town, there are 2 places by name Ikkeri and Keladi which have beautiful old temples worth visiting. Lord Shiva is the deity there. There is also a Sandal Wood Complex worth visiting. Varadahalli is another village in Sagar town where Sridhara Ashram is located - again a sacred place for Hindus. Sagar has also got an old Jain Temple. It is a business place with Arecanut, Coffee, Cocoa, Pepper and other spices being the main agricultural products. There are other 2 temples by name Marikamba temples and once every 3 years there is a fair which is celebrated in a grand way, called as Marikamba Jatre. Another point of interest in this town is that there is a Masjid and a famous Ganesh Temple side by side sharing a common wall. This place is 31kms from the world famous Jog Falls where, water from Sharavati River falls from about 900ft. height. Nice Place and Nice People. It is my home town and I love it.

  • It is my home town and it comes under Western ghats rain forest area and green belt. Which is called as Sahyadri. Peoples of Sagar are cool and city is well known in karnataka for clean and free from pollution.
