Hubli being the nearest commercial city, business opportunities are plenty. Supari (Arecanut) is the primary business of the people. Banavasi, an ancient kingdom which was ruled by the "Kadamba" dynasty is 24 Kms away from the city center. It is my mother's hometown, and Me from Gadag. It is a "Heaven" for me, people, language, climate, customs, discipline is really appreciable. I really enjoyed playing cricket in summer season with Sirsian's. It will be very awesome to sit in the corner of home with tea in a big glass while in monsoon season, visiting near by places in winter season. Totally enjoyed Sirsi. It is very beautiful city. Moderate population in the city not much congested, i think now it is around 80,000. (in 2014) It offers many spectacular places throughout its taluka limits. Those who are not familiar with forest type environment, they will not be willing to go back to their natives once they visit Sirsi scenic environment.
