Murid is a village located 10 km west of Chakwal, Pakistan. This village is believed to be founded by the Raja Murid, a brother of Chaudhry Chaku Khan, founder of Chakwal in sixteenth century C.E. Before the partition of India, this village was inhabited by Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs. During the British times, the village contributed towards the British Indian Army and in First World War 375 men from the village served in British Indian Army on different fronts stretching from Mesopotamia (Iraq), Palestine and France. Out of these, 75 men were injured and 13 were killed. The fact is corroborated by the plaque put up by the British Government in the Village School to commemorate the contribution. Similarly, in the Second World War, the youth of the village fought in Africa, Europe and South East Asia. After the partition, Sikhs and Hindus migrated while there was an influx of Muslim migratees mostly from Kashmir.

Whie there are also few houses of Awans (Qutab Shahi) settled in the town. Besides these Zimandars, there are some other low rank casts families living there.
