A new airport under construction by CAA near Islamabad (the land was acquired from Attock District and latter amalgamated into capital territory). NIIA is expected to be operational by April 2018. PM Office Islamabad announced today (1st March 2018) that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi headed the cabinet meeting where the name “Islamabad International Airport” was approved for the new airport.The airport commenced operations 3 May 2018, replacing the old Benazir Bhutto International Airport.[

  • It is now Benazir Bhutto International Airport.. According to recent news appeared in press this will be operational in June 2013.. Work on Kashmir Highway Way leading to this airport has already started and it is now in full swing as ordered by the President and PM of Pakistan

  • Guys, this is not the Benazir Bhutto International Airport. That one is to the SSE in Rawalpindi. This one will replace the Benazir Bhutto one.
  • I hope by the mid 2013, PPP leadership will be in europe and america, enjoying the money they looted in recent years, and this airport will be named after some other leader. i suggest this airport be called "Fateh Jang international Airport", whats wrong in it? we already named many airports on nearest town names, e.g. Chaklala, Kamra, Simingli etc.
  • guys suggest some good name for this airport which should not only represent your country your culture and your national heroes (but not politicized/convicted self created martyrs )but also your heritage. the simple name tht can be without any argument is ISLAMABAD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. Otherwise we can also keep FATIMAHA JINNAH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT or GANDHARA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT or TIPU SULTAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. PLZ GIVE UR SUGGESTIONS
