  • Campbellpur, now Attock, is a very important city of the Punjab. It is home to the headquarters of artillery and very important Kamra airbase is just around the corner. Attock became the home of thousands of immigrants from India, mostly from Delhi/Gurgaon, and U.P., after partition. So much so that the main city area, now called the old city, was dominated by them. Most left during the 1960s and 1970s. A few still remain but they no longer constitute a sizable presence. Attock has developed over the last 10 years with the opening of universities and infrastructure improvement. Climate is extreme though with harsh summers and cold winters. The area receives good rainfall during monsoon and in winters.
