DPRK's top university, named after the Great Leader and President, Kim il Sung. Located in the Ryongnam Hill neighborhood of the Taesong District, Kim il Sung University is spread over 1.5 million square metres and has an enrollment of 10,000 students (some of whom are international). The school is divided into three colleges (Law, Literature and Computer Science) and also 13 faculties in social and natural sciences. There are 200 lectures halls, 180 laboratories, 13 libraries and research centers and a natural history museum. The university also maintains agricultural and fish farms in a 150 hectare complex. The newest addition to the Pyongyang tram line is located near here. Kim Il Sung University is subordinate to Ministry of Education, but also to education and workforce subcommittee of the KCCP. Its most famous alumni is NDC Chairman, General Kim Jong il who graduated with a degree in Political Economy.
