Built in 1740 for likely Daniel Underhill and expanded by Peabody, Wilson & Brown for for Carl Jacob Schmidlapp, Sr.{banking, sugar}, 81-acre property surrounded by preserved woods and wetlands. 8 bedrooms/bathrooms, 10 fireplaces, 9 car detached garage. Landscaping was designed by Ellen Biddle Shipman with Vitale & Geiffert who did a pool complex. One of the walls of the poolhouse is decorated by a Tennessee pink marble statue entitled "The Bather" by Edmond Amateis (1928).

A subsequent addition to the main house was built to a design by Alfred Shaknis in 1952.
