railway, abandoned / shut down, railway roundhouse
The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific stretched from Chicago to the Pacific Coast at Seattle, running through Harlowton. Harlowton became an important to the "Milwaukee Road" when the line to the west was converted for the use of electric locomotives. This former roundhouse was used to maintain the steam locomotives that operated on the line heading east, as well as the line heading north to Great Falls. The CMSP&P was abandoned in Harlowton during 1980.
