Manwoldae Palace was the official royal residence during the Koryo dynasty, and construction on it began in 919. It was burnt to the ground during the invasion of the Red Kerchieved Rebel Army in 1361; today, only the ruins of the foundation exist.
"Manwŏldae" means "Full moon tower".
