Paechon County (Paech'ŏn-gun), South Hwanghae Province, North Korea.
Located in the Haeso region, often refered to as North Korea's breadbasket, Paechon is a mostly agricultural county. This county was first created in 1856; however, in 1914 it was merged with the nearby Yonan County to form Yonbaek county. In 1952, its was again made an independent municipality.
Paechon's name in Korean means "White River"; however, the name curiously uses a nonstandard pronunciation the Hanja (Chinese Characters) used to write the county's name, which would usually be pronounced as "PAEKch'ŏn".
