museum, place with historical importance, Art Nouveau / Jugendstil (architecture)
The largest and most impressive suite on the 1st floor is the Imperial Suite; intended for high-ranking guests, it was built and specially furnished for the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Josef in 1905-1906. Carol was celebrating 40 years of reign, on which occasion she had important guests, for whose reception significant efforts were made. Unfortunately, Franz Josef never reached Peleș, but only participated in the festivities in Bucharest, not having the opportunity to enjoy everything that had been prepared for him.
The apartment was used instead by Gustav V of Sweden (Queen Elizabeth's cousin).
