Heers is a municipality in the province of Limburg in Belgium and belongs to the electoral canton and the judicial canton of Borgloon. The municipality has more than 7,000 inhabitants.
Heers was first mentioned in 927, as Comitatus de Haire. In 1250 there was talk of Hers Castrum; in 1890 it was called Borg-Heers. Possibly Lords means: of the lord.
Mergers in 1971 and 1977 merged 12 church villages into the new municipality of Heers: Heers, Batsheers, Opheers, Veulen, Gutschoven, Mettekoven, Mechelen-Bovelingen, Rukkelingen-Loon, Heks, Horpmaal, Vechmaal and Klein-Gelmen. Only Heers and Mechelen-Bovelingen have more than 1000 inhabitants.
