262 Fifth Avenue

USA / New Jersey / West New York / Fifth Avenue, 262
 condominium, Modern (architecture)

860-foot, 54-story modernist residential building completed in 2024. Designed by SLCE Architects and Meganom of Russia, the building has two signature exterior elements: the eastern façade is composed of aluminum and glass, with porthole-shaped windows of different sizes, while the northern and southern facades have oversized curtain walls of aluminum and massive panes of blue triple-glazed glass. The prewar 12-story limestone façade of the neighboring building, 260 Fifth Avenue, appears to form part of the base of the modern tower of 262 Fifth Avenue, as the taller building partially cantilevers over and behind it. The top of the tower features an arched metal-frame rooftop observation deck.

The west third of the north and south facades are metal paneling, sheathing the building's core spaces, with the curtain walls running up the eastern two-thirds, where its living spaces are separated. The top third of the tower is separated from the rest by an open-air space at the curtain wall section. A thin outer wall spans the gap at the east end, with an oversized circular cutout mirroring the porthole windows at the floors above and below. The aluminum paneling between floors on the north and south facades and on the east facade is intricately textured, with a tiny "crinkled" appearance.

The building contains only 26 condominium units.
