Ruins of the Brooklyn Water Works system built during the 1800s to a striking design by Frank F. Freeman. Pumped water through tunnels from various reservoirs along Sunrise Highway for the City of Brooklyn before it was incorporated as one of the Five Boroughs. The system was retained as an emergency water supply until 1978.
Sometime in the 1990s, Gary Melius bought the property and started refurbishing it as condominiums, but it burned down shortly into the construction. Currently abandoned and the building is heavily fire damaged.
