Residence built c. 1920 in the Colonial Revival style for an unknown first occupant. It was later purchased in 1929 by John P. Kane, Jr {merchant, capitalist, industrialist}. Kane served as president of General Builders' Supply Corp., South River Trucking Corp., Dennings Paint Brick Works, and Newton Hook Brick Co.
In 1929, the home underwent restorations by Beers & Farley and landscaping was designed collaboratively by Louise Payson and Ellen Biddle Shipman. The estate was purchased in 1936 by Herbert Galbraith Wellington, Sr.
