 commercial building  Add category

5-story commercial building completed in 1929. It is clad in dark-red brick, with a band of red-painted stone across the top of the ground floor. There are two loading docks with brown metal roll-down gates at the middle of the ground floor, flanking a brown metal service door. At the east end is a smaller loading dock with a splayed brick lintel above it, and at the west end is a brown metal entrance door below a splayed brick lintel with a limestone keystone.

The upper floors have two bays of paired windows in the middle, and single-window end bays, all with splayed brick lintels and limestone keystones. The end bays very slightly project, as does a brick pier running down the middle, which also bulges out to the sides between the 3rd & 4th floors. There is a thin stone cornice below the top floor, and the facade is capped by a plain stone parapet with a brick upper band and metal coping.

The building is occupied by the H.B. Day Company, which was founded in 1881 as a family-owned vendor of wholesale grocery goods, imported specialties, and frozen goods.
