Zein-o-din Caravanseray

Iran / Yazd / Mehriz /
 hotel, inn

This is the only round caravanserai of the 17th century in Iran.
His second feature is that this is an example of a roadside caravanserai in the desert, and not in the city.
From above, it looks like a huge round bastion with a hole in the center. Outside is fortified by protruding watchtowers. Their rhythm and number are drawn in terms of a six-spoke wheel. A pair of straight, closely shifted towers menacingly guard the entrance gate between them.
The building is built of earthen bricks. Brick layouts skillfully laid out ornaments of simple lines of strokes. Outside, the facades are golden brown in color, plastered with clay and straw, and they blend in tone with the surrounding desert landscape.
But inside it is more like a 10-gon of two inner rings-rooms. The first outer ring was used to house camels, horses and mules. In the center of the courtyard, a pedestal was preserved, on which tenders and entertainment performances were held. In the inner ring are the "rooms" themselves. In fact, these are raised floorings, laid with carpets and pillows. Screens and curtains separate guests from prying eyes.
