Residence built c. 1710 in the Long Island Farmhouse style for Timothy Carll on originally 15 acres of land. It had several owners before being purchased in the 1950's by Horace Havemeyer, Jr {industrialist} who extensively enlarged the home. Havemeyer served as president and chairman of the board of National Sugar Refining Co. and director of Amalgamated Sugar Co. Havemeyer also lived at 350 5th Avenue in New York City.
The estate also includes a guesthouse, three barns, and a guest cottage. It is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Carll-Havemeyer House.
