Regent Apartments

345-foot, 34-story modernist residential building completed in 1981. Designed by Philip Birnbaum & Associates, the building is surrounded by landscaping, with two large plazas to the north and east, and is L-shaped above the ground floor. The facades are clad in beige brick with exposed grey concrete floor plates. The southwest corner of the tower is clad in dark-grey granite at the base, with the double-height main entrance at the west end on 60th Street. It has a revolving door flanked by glass traditional doors, all set below a grey-brown metal canopy halfway up the entry area. There are windows above the canopy and large, double-height tripartite windows on either side. Two more such windows are on the south end of the west facade on the avenue. To the north the ground floor has a metal service door and a metal-and-glass storefront at the north end, with a red canvas awning. There are no openings along the ground floor on the east end of the south facade on 60th Street, or facing the east plaza. On the north facade, the ground floor extends out at the east end, with an entrance/exit for the underground parking garage, accessed by a drive that borders the east edge of the north plaza.

The upper floors on the south facade have two central bays of tripartite windows, flanked by two bays of double-windows on either , side and end bays with tripartite windows (eight bays total). Metal air-conditioning vents are located below each window bay, and the end bays are slightly recessed between the edges of the facade and the middle bays. The west facade has 10 bays, with tripartite windows in the center, and single-windows in the 2nd bay from the north; the rest have double-windows. The center tripartite-window bay is recessed, and there is no vents below the single-windows.

The west half of the north facade has three bays, with a center bay of double-windows flanked by recessed tripartite windows. The east half, set far back above the ground floor, has four bays with double-windows in the middle and tripartite windows to the outside. The north half of the east facade, also set back above the ground floor, has five bays - all double-windows except for single-windows in the 2nd bay from the north. The south half of the east facade has six bays - all with double-windows except for single-windows in the 3rd bay from the south.

There is a landscaped roof deck at the east part of the roof. The building contains 322 apartment units. The ground floor storefront on the avenue is occupied by Alan's Marketplace.
