There are seven more villages with the same name in Bulgaria: (Elhovo municipality) Yambol District, (Blagoevgrad municipality) Blagoevgrad District, (Sliven municipality) Sliven District, (Suvorovo municipality) Varna District, (Levski municipality) Pleven District, (Nedelino municipality) Smolyan District and (Venet municipality) Shumen District.
It is located 5 km southwest of Tsarevo and 67 km from the regional center Burgas.
Today's village is a relatively new village, originally a typical Kolibar village. After the Liberation (1879) and the Preobrazhenie Uprising (1903), Bulgarians from the other villages in the interior of Strandzha, then under Turkish rule, moved here.
After World War I, due to an increase in the population in the village of Bulgari and a lack of livelihood, several families settled in the "Lisovo" area and in 1923 they laid the foundation for the village of Izgev. After them, other Bulgarian families gradually moved to the village. Its old name was Lisovo, named after the area in question.
The village has an Orthodox church "St. Marina", consecrated in 2001. It was built on the site of a half-ruined old church built at the beginning of the 20th century.
A landmark for the village and the region is the healing spring - Sveta Voda, located about 1.5 km northwest of the village. Right next to the spring there is also a small pond dedicated to St. Marina.
The village holiday is on the day of St. Marina. On this date, a fair is held every year and a "clear" kurban is made.
Mounds have been attested in the areas of "Choplakovtsi" and "Balievo", as well as a mound necropolis in the area of "Sinanevo", southwest of the village. It consists of about 50 small mounds, among which are the remains of 4 destroyed dolmens.
