Buena Vista Wind Farm is located in the Altamont Pass Wind Resource Area (between Livermore and Tracy, California). It sits in the northern part of this area, south of Vasco Road and about 5-6 miles north of Interstate 580. Commissioned in 2006, it consists of 38 Mitsubishi MWT-1000-61 wind turbines spread over about 400 acres and with a combined nominal capacity of 38 MW.

This is the 2nd Buena Vista wind farm in this area. The original Buena Vista wind farm was commissioned in 1981 and consisted of 179 Windmaster turbines spread over about 2400 acres with about the same nameplate capacity. It was decommissioned in 2005 and replaced by the new repowered Buena Vista.
