residence, LIGC - Long Island Gold Coast, Second Empire (architecture)
Estate home built c. 1931 in the French Second Empire style on originally 29 acres of land for Douglas Moffat {attorney, diplomat}. Moffat served as a parter of Cravath, Henderson, Leffingwell, and dee Gersdorff (later Cravath, Swaine & Moore) and was the United States Ambassador to Australia during the Eisenhower administration.
The estate features 11ft ceilings, four fireplaces, and a separate garage outbuilding. It was later renamed "Belvedere" by a subsequent owner. A whimsical matching doghouse was created for the estate.
