ghost town, historic ruins
Yucca Grove was established in the 1920s by Harry "Death Valley Jack" Nickerson. He moved here from Baker in 1927 and erected a tent here. This was later replaced by what was possibly a British WWI Nissan tent (reports claim it was a Quonset hut, but Nickerson died in 1932), and later added several stucco cabins here. A café and then a garage would follow. Nickerson died in 1932, and operations of what was then known as Yucca Grove were taken over by his brother Arthur and wife Katherine. Arthur passed away in 1944, and Yucca Grove would be obliterated by highway improvements after Katie's death in 1965.
