Notes: This powder magazine was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a New Deal program that operated between 1933 and 1942. The program provided work for unmarried, unemployed men who were struggling to find work during the Great Depression. Powder magazines like this were constructed in various remote places in Arkansas, to store the explosives that were used in the construction of roads, bridges and other infrastructure in the area.
