Residence built c. 1889 in the Victorian style for Willis Harlow Young {manufacturing} on four acres of land. Young was the principal of G.H. Gerard & Son of Brooklyn which manufactured decorative doors and trims. He also served as a trustee of the Town of Hempstead and of the Garden City Golf Club. His father was the president of Greenpoint Savings Bank of Brooklyn.

The home was later occupied by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart after a prior house caught fire in 1921 as a school. They later founded the Sacred Heart Academy for Girls in 1951 on the adjacent site.
