This complex of residential and agricultural buildings once made up a stagecoach stop along the Butterfield Overland Mail Route, a mail and passenger service that operated between 1857 and 1861. The eastern termini of the route were Memphis and St. Louis, which met at Fort Smith, Arkansas and continued on to the western terminus of San Francisco. It is believed that there was once a tavern building on this site as well, with speculation indicating that the current main house may have been built on top of its remains. Additionally, this property was the home of the first permanent settler of Shiloh, which is now known as Springdale.

The street address for some of the buildings is 1567 Dodd Avenue.
