In the Western Fort, stretching over more than 2,300 sqm, a relatively small room with a particularly reinforced entrance was perhaps a kind of treasury, a store for precious goods, while the presence of an amount of balance weights leads to believe that in the building also some administrative operation took place, and the presence of fire-places and scum leads to think that also these kind of activities took place there. The rectangular fortress included into the Western Fort strongly jutted from the outer side of the rampart, was particularly well preserved, and was certainly one of the best places to check over the outer base of the rampart, otherwise concealed for the defenders’ eyes.
