place with historical importance, bathing ghat, hindu temple, embankment
The 'Daroga Ghat' was embanked and stone-structured in 18th century CE by the Beohar-dynasty of the then Jubbulpore (now Jabalpur) under supervision of their 'Daroga' (chief security officer) named Sri VishwaNath Khare who was popularly addressed as 'Daroga-ji'. Though it used to be a private ghat of the Beohars', they chose to give credits to their Daroga, hence named 'Daroga Ghat'. The old stone-structure and steps as laid by the Beohar-dynasty can still be seen today where their family-rites used to be performed.
