USA / New Jersey / West New York / New York City, New York / Eighth Avenue, 488
historical layer / disappeared object, commercial building

3-story Art-Deco mercantile building completed in 1929 for Samuel L. Bickford. Designed by F. Russell Stuckert & Co. as a store and offices, its ground floor contained a Bickford's location, a popular lunchroom. At the top, the white terra-cotta facade bears a panel with a script Bickford's logo on it. The parapet stair-steps up to the center. Below, the 2nd & 3rd floors have narrow outer bays with single-windows with black iron frames and spandrels. The wider center section has black metal infill. The ground floor is clad in whiter terra-cotta tiles, with a modernized storefront.

The Bickford's went out of business in the mid-1960s, replaced by a restaurant called Snacktime, which was supplanted by the Adult Entertainment Center in 2000. Since 2010 it had been Famous Famiglia Pizza.
