8-story (plus 3-story wing) residential building originally completed in 1895. The 3-story extension on the east was designed by William J. Dilthey and completed in 1913. It is clad in stone, with modern replacement storefronts on the ground floor. Both upper floors have full-width bands of windows divided by black iron mullions. The stone spandrels are lightly ornamented by panels, and there is a metal railing around the rooftop deck.
The taller original building is much narrower at the street frontage, but extends out at an angle toward the back of the lot. The building’s angled plan stems from its historic location next to Minetta Brook. The building was occupied by the Rambusch Design Studio, which made stained glass and also worked on the interiors of the Roxy Theater on 50th Street, from 1898 to 1999.
The 2-story limestone base is Gothic in style, with a large, double-height arched entrance overpowering a small glass-door entrance beneath three pointed-arch windows on the 2nd floor. The upper floors are clad in brick and stone. The small 2-story penthouse level has three pointed-arch openings on the north, west and east facades.
