Since 2000, the transmission of IBM to the waters of the Arctic seas has been carried out via the SafetyNET network via two INMARSAT satellites (in the Indian and Pacific Oceans). In the future, the transmission of IBM was envisaged by the integrated use of the SafetyNET network and NAVTEX coastal stations in areas outside the coverage of INMARSAT satellites. The first NAVTEX coastal station on the Arctic coast of the NSR in the area of the port of Tiksi was put into operation in 2003, however, in subsequent years up to the present time (end of 2018), no new NAVTEX stations have been deployed to transmit IBM to areas of the NSR waters outside the coverage of INMARSAT satellites. Since 2011, the preparation and transmission of navigational and meteorological warnings, meteorological forecasts, search and rescue information, and ice information has been extended to the new Arctic regions NAVAREA/METAREA XX and XXI.
