Second World War 1939-1945, ruins, artillery battery
These five concrete revetments encircling a central height finder and crew bunk revetment are ruins of the primary heavy anti-aircraft battery emplaced on Shemya during the Second World War to defend against Japanese air attack. Abandoned postwar, today only the concrete walls of each revetment remain, though all have been damaged by earthquakes and weather erosion.
