Historic district that encompasses a large part of Kiska Island. This is where Japanese troops landed and occupied part of Kiska Island in 1942 during World War II. The Japanese Army built, among other things, defenses, camps, roads, an airfield, submarine base, seaplane base, and other installations. The site is designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark in addition to its status as an NRHP listing.
