Ishtar’s Temple (Area D) on the Citadel was a sanctuary oriented, like most of the Old Syrian Temples of Ebla, with the entrance to the South, with an axial tripartite plan, featuring vestibule, antecella and a long cella, on the back wall of the cella there was a niche meant to host the goddess’s cult statue.
