The three story building was constructed in 1940 for Telenews Theater, which showed newsreels. Designed by Cryil E Schley in the Streamline style, the theater sat 400 and featured a large glass globe above the building entrance. With the popularity of TV news, the theater began to show regular movie fare and changed its name to the Plaza Theater. By 1971 the theater was running adult movies and was closed in 1987. It was briefly revived as the Tele Arts Theater between 1988 and 1991. In 2000, it was converted into Club Blue.
