fortification, NRHP - National Register of Historic Places, historic ruins
The remains of a Colorado National Guard outpost, listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The outpost was built in 1904 at the request of a local mine manager to combat labor strikes and unrest in area mining camps. The outpost was only occupied for a few months that year, while martial law was in place (though there were no major disturbances during this time anyway). In 2010, the site was stabilized for historical preservation purposes.
